About Cape Breton Voices

We are a group of women who have come together because of our love of Cape Breton and our belief that this Island has a vibrant, prosperous, diverse, inclusive and exciting future.

We believe in the importance of accountability among those who hold power in our communities – local, provincial, and federal politicians, publicly-funded organizations, boards of directors, and civil servants. We believe that it is up to all of us to stand up and speak out when accountability, honesty and community interest are not at the forefront of public decision-making.

We believe in the importance of business, entrepreneurship, immigration, arts and culture, and tourism. We believe that these will be the powerful and limitless engines that drive the future economy of the Island.

We come together to discuss contemporary community issues and to ask whether we can play some role in supporting, sharing and celebrating the many bright lights that now comprise our brilliant new Cape Breton constellation.
